Vijay Iyer is one of the most important newcomers on the contemporary jazz scene who will take to the stage at Stans. While the Indian-American pianist has been drawing attention for some time with Steve Coleman and Roscoe Mitchell, he only started to make major musical headlines last year with the release of his trio's own first album, "Historicity." Iyer's music dazzles with rhythmic and complex patterns and melodic colors. It is very rational, yet with a sensuous quality. Iyer can also transpose a harsh electric piece into thrilling jazz.
