Five years ago, Spanish singer Amparo Sánchez played in Stans with her band Amparanoia. Now she is returning with her first solo program, "Tucson-Habana." It is more peaceful and more personal, and uses her dark voice to greater effect. She is inspired musically both by American desert sounds as well as by the boleros and sons of Cuban music. With this focus, the feisty singer, who worked with Calexico on her new album, has gained a sharper musical profile.
